Russell T. DavisHudson – Coach Russell Thomas Davis, 74, of Hudson, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2021 at UMass Medical Center in Worcester. Russell was born on Oct. 18, 1946, in Concord to the late Eugene Davis and Lucy Mae (Jones) Davis.

Coach Davis will be remembered for the countless lives he touched through athletics in the state of Massachusetts. He is a member of the Massachusetts High School Soccer Coaches Hall of Fame and won numerous league and district titles and the first girls state championship in Hudson High history in any sport with the softball team in 2007. Russ, however, will be remembered more for his sense of humor, loyalty, and straightforwardness.

Russ served as a Seabee in the United States Navy for three separate tours, during the Vietnam War. On Oct. 19, 1969, Russ married the love of his life Janine at the First United Methodist Church of Marlborough.

Russ was predeceased by his parents, brothers Gerald and Ronald, sister Dorothy, brothers-in-law Michael and Nicholas, nieces Cindy and Lori, and nephew Michael. Russ is survived by his wife, Janine; his two sons, The Rev. Mr Scott Thomas Davis (Jennifer) of Grosse Pointe Woods, MI and Brian Russell Davis of Northborough. Russ is also survived by his grandson, Ian Knous Davis; daughter-in-law Erika Davis of Grosse Pointe Farms, MI; his beloved cat, Salem; brother Eugene (Paula); sisters Marion and Cindy (Frank); and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to a period of visitation on Monday, March 8, from 2-6 p.m., at the Tighe Hamilton Regional Funeral Home, 50 Central St., Hudson. A graveside committal service will be held on Tuesday, March 9, at 11 a.m., at Forestvale Cemetery in Hudson.
