Marlborough – Dora C. (Geraway) Siira, 69, passed away peacefully at Marlborough Hospital on March 8, 2021. She was born in Marlborough to lifelong residents Francis and Yvonne (Buisson) Geraway.
Dora was a lifelong resident of Marlborough, where she was a 1969 graduate of St. Anne’s Academy. Right out of high school, she started working at New England Telephone Company and after raising her daughter Alida, she went on to work at Marshall’s and Southboro Medical Center.
Dora, first and foremost, loved and adored her husband of 49 years, Paul Siira, who she met 56 years ago at Marlborough House of Pizza. She loved to travel with her husband visiting many places throughout the years. In later years, she enjoyed bringing her grandchildren to some of her favorite spots. One of her favorite joys was spending time with her grandchildren and watching them grow up. Whether it was attending sporting or school events, watching and discussing their favorite tv shows or shopping and fashion, she always kept up with everything that was happening in their life.
Although she struggled off and on for the past ten years with cancer, and the terrible side effects that remained, she had a strong heart and a will to live for her family.
Besides her husband, Paul, who was also her devoted caretaker and provided her with daily comfort and love, she is survived by her daughter, Alida LaCroix and son-in-law Michael LaCroix, as well as Michael’s family who she enjoyed spending many holidays and gatherings throughout the years with. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Abbe, Audrey, and Michael, who she loved and adored completely. Dora also leaves behind her sister, Patricia Farrell, and her nephew, as well as her brother-in-law, Jack Siira and his wife Barbara, and sister-in-law, Nancy Erickson and her husband Paul and their families. Lastly, she leaves behind her cat, Lola, who brought her comfort and happiness through her challenging times.
Dora will be remembered as a kind and loving woman to everyone she has met. She will be sadly missed.
The family would like to extend a thank you to the Marlborough ER staff who provided comfort and care during her final hours, as well as Father Tocci from St. Michael’s Parish for her sendoff prayers to Heaven.
A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
