Shrewsbury Historical Society to host ‘Remembering the Cocoanut Grove Fire’

"The Cocoanut Grove Fire" book coverShrewsbury – The Shrewsbury Historical Society will host the virtual presentation “Remember the Cocoanut Grove Fire” by historical author Stephanie Schorow on Wednesday, March 24 at 7 p.m. on Shrewsbury channels 28 and 328. A taped rebroadcast will be available on the Shrewsbury Media Connection website: shrewsburymediaconnection.org.

 

About the Program

Author Stephanie Schorow will explore the story of the Cocoanut Grove nightclub fire which took place in Boston on November 28, 1942. It took the lives of nearly 500 people, including many from Central Massachusetts. Stephanie shares her groundbreaking research into one of Boston’s most devastating fires

 

About the Presenter

A Boston-based freelance writer and journalism instructor, Stephanie Schorow is the author, co-author, or editor of eight books on Boston history, including The Cocoanut Grove Fire. Stephanie has worked as an editor and reporter for the Boston Herald, the Associated Press and numerous other publications. She appeared as an expert in a segment on the Cocoanut Grove fire for the “Modern Marvels” series on the History Channel. She also appeared in a documentary on the fire called Six Locked Doors. Stephanie lives in Medford, Massachusetts and frequently speaks at libraries, community centers and historical societies in the Greater Boston area.
