Matthew J. HoltClinton – Matthew Joseph Holt, 60, of Clinton, formerly of Westborough, passed away on March 17, 2021 at UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester.

Born in Framingham, Matt was the son of the late Nita Adair (deBairos) Holt and the late Richard James Holt. He attended Westborough High School and graduated in 1978. He attended the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and graduated with a degree in Industrial Engineering.

Matt worked in a variety of industries until he discovered his true calling as a peer counselor at Open Sky Community Services. Matt was driven to help others.

Matt loved a variety of music. He especially loved Southern Rock and Blues Rock. Eric Clapton was his favorite guitarist.

Matt was fascinated with flying. He took lessons as a teenager at Marlborough airport. He dabbled in golf and you could count on Matt to have a passionate conversation no matter what the subject. Matt spent his earliest years in Marlborough and moved to Westborough in 1973.

He leaves behind many loving friends and family: his daughter, Ksenia; nephews Matthew Brewer and Ethan Holt; his surviving brothers, Chris and Peter; sister-in-law Susannah; cousins Mary, Pat, and Judy Holt, Mary Ann, Michael, Thomas and Cindy Walsh, April (Brewer) Gingras; soul brothers Roger Clapp and Kevin Cannon; good friend Charley O’Neill; and a host of other people and colleagues whose lives he touched.

Calling hours will be held Wednesday, March 24, from 3-4 p.m., at Pickering & Son Westborough Funeral Home, 62 West Main St., Westborough, with a Celebration of Life service at 4 p.m. Open to the public. Facial masks and social distancing required.
