SHREWSBURY – A school bus crashed into a tractor trailer in Shrewsbury on March 23, injuring eight people on Route 20.

Seven of those eight individuals were students, while one was the driver behind the wheel of the school bus. All injuries were minor and non-life threatening, Shrewsbury Police said in a press release.

First reports of a crash came in around 7:30am, bringing police to 1 Avalon Way, just past the Route 9/Route 20 interchange.

Those officers found the bus had been carrying 10 students to school at the Al-Hamra Academy in town.

The collision took place in the eastbound lane of Route 20.

Emergency crews brought all individuals with injuries to UMass Medical Center in Worcester for treatment.

The cause of the crash remained under investigation by the Shrewsbury Police Department, the Central Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council Accident Reconstruction (CEMLEC) and Massachusetts State Police Truck Team as of March 23.
