Ellen R. BuschHudson – Ellen R. (Burke) Busch, 82 died on March 20, 2021 at home, surrounded by her loving family. She was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Herbert W. Busch, in 2010.

Ellen was born in Northampton, the daughter of the late Arthur and Catherine (Carr) Burke. She was raised in Billerica, where she graduated from Billerica Memorial High School, class of ‘56. She graduated from Lowell State College and earned her Master of Education from Framingham State College, class of ’65.

Ellen was a teacher for over 35 years. She taught in Tewksbury, Hudson, and Marlborough where she retired from in 2005.

She was a very active member of the Hudson Historical Society and Red Hat Society. Ellen formerly served as President of the Hudson Historical Society and was currently serving as Head Curator of the Hudson Historical Society Museum. She enjoyed her many hours volunteering at the museum over the past several years sharing her love of local history.

Ellen is survived by her two children, Carolyn Hawes and her husband Brian of Hudson, Kevin Busch and his wife Colleen of Amesbury; two grandsons, Bryce and Logan Hawes, both of Hudson; a sister, Catherine Maddox and her husband Melvin of Utah, as well as many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, March 25, at 11 a.m., in St. Michael Parish Church, 23 Manning St., Hudson. Burial will follow in the family lot in Forestvale Cemetery, Hudson. Calling hours will be held at St. Michael Church from 9 – 11 a.m. prior to the funeral Mass.
