John H. Kohland, 84, of HudsonHudson – John H. Kohland, 84, died on April 2, 2021 after a long period of failing health. He was the husband of Ann (Gillman) Kohland of Hudson. They were married for 61 years.

He was born in Cobleskill, N.Y., the son of the late Harry and Victoria (Schaffer) Kohland, and lived in Lake George, N.Y. prior to moving to Hudson three years ago.

Mr. Kohland was a veteran of both the United States Army, serving during the Korean War, and the United States Navy Reserves.

He served as a New York State Trooper for 20 years, retiring in 1980. After his retirement he went to work driving buses for Trailways. He was an avid coin collector and enjoyed traveling with his family in their motor home.

Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Kathleen Park and her husband Charles “Larry” of Marlborough; a granddaughter, Lindsay Park and her husband Eric Mammoser of Marlborough; two brothers, Fred Kohland of Ohio and Craig Kohland of California; one sister, Beverly Elwell of Oneonta, N.Y.; and many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by a brother, Richard Kohland.

A private family burial service will be held.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for a donation to be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation.
