NORTHBOROUGH – Police were on scene Sunday responding to a fatal car accident near the intersection of Route 9 and Otis Street in Northborough.
In social media postings, the Northborough Police Department confirmed it was expecting the eastbound lane of Route 9 to be shut down for “several hours.”
In a separate post at roughly 10:30pm, Westborough Police shared their own photo of the crash scene. That image showed debris and dirt across the roadway near the Lexus of Northborough car dealership.
According to Westborough Police, the Central Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council’s shared crash reconstruction team was on hand aiding in preliminary investigations.
On Twitter, Auburn Police Chief Andrew Sluckis further confirmed that the crash was fatal, also telling motorists to “avoid the area.”
A photo he shared showed a badly damaged car partially flipped on its roof. Still more debris littered the roadway.
Northborough, Westborough and Auburn are all part of the Central Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council.
