WESTBOROUGH – The Westborough Rangers volleyball team capped off a two-game sweep of the Shrewsbury Colonials last week with a win April 8.

Two days earlier, the Rangers had easily shut down the Colonials by winning three straight sets on the road in Shrewsbury.

Looking to spoil what remains an undefeated record for Westborough, Shrewsbury seized momentum early this time around, winning their matchup’s first set by a score of 25-21.

From there, though, it was all Westborough. The Rangers took the second frame by a score of 25-22 before running away with sets three and four via back-to-back 25-18 scores.

Westborough has lit up the court this year, dominating its schedule under the atypical circumstances of an abbreviated Fall II season.

Beyond winning their first eight games on their schedule, Westborough left its most recent victory over Shrewsbury having taken 24 of the first 26 individual sets in its season.

Speaking with the Community Advocate last month, Head Coach Roger Anderson credited all this to his players.

“All of our players have accepted each other and supported each other,” he said. “…This is far more important than anything else.”
