Hudson – Doris L. (Eye) Vollink, 90, of Hudson, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2021 at the Reservoir Center for Health and Rehabilitation after a period of declining health. She is reunited with her beloved husband of 55 years, Carl D. Vollink, who predeceased her in 2014.
Doris was born on July 17, 1930 in Danbury, Iowa, a daughter of the late Clifford and Nelley Eye. She was raised in Iowa where she worked hard on her family farm and also helped support her family by working for several restaurants throughout the years.
She was a longtime parishioner of the United Methodist Church in Archer, Iowa, where she was a member of the Ladies Aide Group. Doris and her husband Carl migrated to Hudson in 2001 and also attended services at the First United Methodist Church of Hudson.
She was an avid bingo and Pakeno player. Doris also loved embroidery to pass the time.
Doris is survived by her daughter, Carla J. Franklin and her husband Steven of Hudson; four grandchildren, Nichole Lane and her husband Robert of Indianapolis, In., Christina Fields of Waterbury, Conn., Jermaine Fields of Hudson, and James Fields Jr. of Sioux City, Iowa; and seven great-grandchildren. She was also predeceased by her infant son, Dwayne Vollink, and her brother, Donald Eye.
Services will be held at a later date. Tighe Hamilton Regional Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements
