June D. McGoldrickWestborough – June Davies McGoldrick, 97, passed away peacefully at home with family on April 16, 2021. She had recently celebrated a festive and joy-filled birthday with friends and family.

June leaves behind her daughter, Linda McGoldrick of Newport, R.I., and grandson Ryan McGoldrick of Wethersfield, Conn. She is predeceased by her beloved husband of 68 years, Robert P. McGoldrick, daughter Julia (Jill) McGoldrick, son Lawrence J. (Larry) McGoldrick, and sister Dorothy D. Vanderbilt.

June was born to parents Hortense Russell Davies and Ralph Jay Davies, a fifth generation family in Westborough. June graduated from The Northfield School and went onto The Forsyth School of Dental Hygiene graduating in 1943, top of her class at age 19. June was impassioned by service and her profession. She entered into the Civil Service during WWII stationed in Georgia and North Carolina. After the war she returned home to Massachusetts where she proudly furthered a career in dental hygiene for many years.

June McGoldrick’s life-long commitment to her family, community, church and causes for children were integral to her generous spirit, seen through her volunteer work and support for organizations that represented her compassion for others. June embraced life with great personal distinction and energy. She was a talented artist, painter, earning juried qualification in theorem painting, enjoyed silver-making and furniture refinishing. She delighted in many years of study at the Worcester Art Museum and the Worcester Center for Crafts.

June possessed a graceful presence and air of candor throughout her life. She was humble, insightful and compassionate yet courageous in all her interactions every day. June was known for her extraordinary kindness, quietly serving those in need. She was an early founder and supporter of the Westborough Food Pantry as well as a board member of the Worcester Center for Biological Research (formerly The Worcester Foundation) with interests in women’s health. She enjoyed 76 years as a parishioner of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church. She was an avid reader, enjoyed crossword puzzles and a life-long learner across a broad swath of topics: travel, technology, the latest book reviews and fashion. June displayed a brilliance of style, taste and an eye for design. She was an inquisitive self-taught, early adopter of computers. She enjoyed swimming, sailing, and learned cross-country skiing just to support her children on the slopes. June also enjoyed gardening with a natural “green thumb.”

Most will remember June for her quiet, authentic, cheerful optimism, sweet spirit and the high standards she displayed in all aspects of her life. June leaves a legacy of extraordinary kindness. A life well-lived for 97 years.

There will be a private family graveside burial service with a public celebration of life to be announced at a future date.

In lieu of flowers, donations are welcomed in June’s memory to her two favorite charities: St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 3 John St., Westborough, MA 01581 and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to the charity of your choosing in her name.
