Westborough – Frances Amelia Small, 67, of Westborough, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2021 at home surrounded by the love of her family.
Frannie is survived by her beloved husband of 44 years, David K. Small, and her daughters Sarah Polzin (husband Brett), and Heather Marcoux (husband Jacques), along with her grandchildren Parker, Brooklyn and Josephine. She is also survived by her brothers, Robert P. Doherty (Austin, TX) and Joseph P. Doherty of (Londonderry, NH), and their children. She was predeceased by her parents, Thomas T. Doherty, Sr. and Marjorie A. Doherty as well as her brother Thomas T. Doherty, Jr.
Born Frances Amelia Doherty, August 31, 1953 in Boston, she moved with her family to Westborough, MA in 1960. Frannie graduated from Westborough High School in 1972 and attended Burdett College in Boston for secretarial schooling.
She was employed by Massachusetts Electric from 1974 until 1983. Once Sarah was born, she devoted her life to raising her children. She returned to work part-time for the Town of Westborough as a para-professional at Fales Elementary School from 1991-1998 and Mill Pond School from 2002 until she retired in 2006. In her free time, Frannie enjoyed the beach, sewing, gardening, local real estate, volunteering, and playing in the Women’s Pitch League of Westboro.
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, May 12, in St. Luke the Evangelist Church, 70 West Main St. Westborough. Burial will follow in St. Luke’s Cemetery, Westborough. Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 PM on Tuesday, May 11, in the Pickering & Son Westborough Funeral Home, 62 West Main St. Westborough.
