WESTBOROUGH – Selectmen decided May 11 to start in-person meetings after Town Meeting is over.

As Town Meeting came and went May 15, that plan now appears to have selectmen set to return to their traditional meeting home at Memorial Hall for their meeting Tuesday, May 25.

Chairman Allen Edinberg said that he and Town Manager Kristi Williams would meet with Westborough TV to talk about cameras, audio and setting up proper distancing.

Williams noted that Town Hall fully opened May 17 with measures like mask-wearing and plexiglass partitions remaining in place. Visitors must sign in at the front door.

Virtual municipal meetings have been the norm across the region since the pandemic struck in March of last year.

Facing the coronavirus threat at the time, Massachusetts suspended provisions of its open meeting law, allowing cities and towns to embrace group Zoom calls in place of in-person deliberations.

Though Westborough is resuming some of its in-person meetings now, those state accommodations remain in place.
