Richard H. AyresRingoes, N.J. – Richard H. “Dick” Ayres, 64, of Ringoes, N.J., formerly of Westborough, passed away on May 21, 2021 at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York City. He was the husband of Terrie L. (Aldonis) Ayres, with whom he was married to for 42 years.

Born in Worcester, he was the son of the late Willard and Audrey (Holt) Ayres. He was raised and educated in Westborough and was a 1975 graduate of Westborough High School. He also graduated from Assumption College and earned a Master’s in Business from Nichols College.

Dick served with the United States Navy from 1978 to 1982 attaining the rank of STG2.

He was employed as VP of Operations and Plant Manager for Mold-Rite Plastics in Somerset, N.J. and formerly at 3M in Southbridge and Indianapolis, Ind.

He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Ringoes, N.J.

Dick was an avid sports fan, especially all New England sports. He and his wife enjoyed traveling.  Most of all Dick enjoyed spending time with family, especially his grandkids who affectionately called him “Bumpa.”

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Sara M. Vettese and her husband Eric, of Sterling, Christopher H. Ayres and his wife Katie of Milford, Conn., and Patrick M. Ayres and his wife Dawn of Chelmsford; one sister, Margaret A. Cedrone of Hudson, Fla.; one brother, Matthew M. Ayres of Spring Hill, Fla.; nine grandchildren, Andrew, Kaitlyn, Julia and Matthew Vettese; Brynn and Rylee Ayres; Kenley, Kora and Boden Ayres; and several nieces and nephews.

His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, May 28, at 10:30 a.m., in St. Luke the Evangelist Church, 70 West Main St., Westborough. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. Calling hours at the Pickering & Son Westborough Funeral Home, 62 West Main St., Westborough, are Thursday, May 27, from 5-7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to St. Luke the Evangelist Church Memorial Fund, 70 West Main St., Westborough, MA 01581; the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church Memorial Fund, 105 Summer Rd., Three Bridges, NJ 08887; or the American Heart Association.
