WESTBOROUGH – A fire left a charred hole in the side of the Westborough VFW building on Milk St. on Tuesday.

Over a dozen fire and police personnel were in hand as of 11am as some smoke still floated out of the building.

National Grid crews, likewise, were also tending to nearby power lines and working on meters attached to exterior walls.

Police told the Community Advocate their fire counterparts had been “in and out” of the building over the course of an extended response.

Firefighters were cutting away parts of a badly damaged wall shortly after 11am.

The VFW Post is located just steps from the headquarters of the Westborough Fire Department at 42 Milk St.

It just completed renovations in anticipation of ramped up post-pandemic programming earlier this month according to social media postings.

The cause of this fire remains under investigation.

This is an ongoing story. It will be updated with any additional information that becomes available…
