Northborough Community Garden marks 10 year anniversaryNORTHBOROUGH – Flowers, vegetables and garden decorations already fill Northborough’s Community Garden plots off Valentine St. in town.

Offering space for community members to plant and tend small crops each year, the Community Garden is one of several spaces like it across the region.

For Northborough though, this year’s harvest will be especially unique as the Community Garden there is celebrating 10 years of operation.

“The Community Gardens are open for business,” the Northborough Recreation Department proclaimed in a Facebook post on May 18.

The Garden opened in 2011 with just 10 plots. Over the past decade the Garden has grown now boasting 40 raised beds protected by chain link fencing.

Ten of those were added just this year.

While all available plots have been reserved, this year interested gardners can learn more by searching “Northborough Community Garden” on Facebook.

Elsewhere, gardeners are hard at work at community gardens in Hudson, Southborough and at the St. Rose of Lima Church in Northborough among a number of other locations.
