SHREWSBURY – Business is booming for MOhawk Fence Company, a locally owned family business that offers professional residential and commercial fence design and installation. In existence for roughly six years, MOhawk Fence Company also provides snow plowing, shoveling, and ice management services during the winter months to their Shrewsbury clients.

Owners Carrick, president, and her husband Mike O’Brien, (who often sports a Mohawk hair style) are dynamic. Leveraging Mike’s 15 years of experience in the construction industry, he serves as project manager and ensures that each project is done the MOhawk Way – with precision!

Mike shared that the business started as a part-time side job of snow plowing which evolved into constructing fences. After about four years the business had grown to a point where it became full-time with fence construction being their chief focus.

As a business that is owned by a woman, Carrick said, “I recently stepped into my role as president where I manage the business behind the scenes.”

“It’s been great to have Carrick help alleviate all the business details which allows me to concentrate on the actual work of the installations,” Mike stated.

And because of the pandemic, their business has grown exponentially and is still growing.

When asked what sets them apart from their competitors, Carrick replied, “we are using a high-end residential line called ActiveYards.”

ActiveYards is a leading American manufacturer of low maintenance, lifetime warranted fencing systems.

“It’s a company that has been around a long time and they have several lines of material…” Mike added.

They install vinyl and ornamental fencing that looks like wrought iron but is made out of aluminum. They also install cedar fencing from a local vendor.

“We are using a good, reputable product that’s durable and constructed well while Mike takes time with attention to every detail. He works with the customers – working through what they want and what their plan is for their home,” Carrick explained.

They do the job right the first time. Each job is done with attention to details such as making sure the holes are dug deep enough and the right amount of concrete is used while taking no shortcuts. It’s the MOhawk Way!

Their client base has come from referrals and social media and is primarily in Central Massachusetts.

Carrick and Mike are the parents to two high school students, daughter Kitty – a sophomore at TECCA (an online public school), and son Liam – a freshman at Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School in Marlborough where he is studying website design. He is updating and building their website. It truly is a family business!

Mike said that they have been working consistently through the winter and now that it is spring, they are booking out so he recommends folks give them a call soon to schedule their appointments.

Business hours are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Carrick’s email is [email protected] or by phone 508-614-5507.  Follow them on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/MOhawkFenceCo
