REGION — Law enforcement will be active throughout the boating season on Lake Quinsigamond thanks to a new task force.

The Lake Quinsigamond Task Force will be made up of Shrewsbury, Worcester, Massachusetts Environmental Police and Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation law enforcement personnel and vehicles.

Massachusetts Environmental Police Colonel Shaun Santos said he is proud to work with his law enforcement partners in this effort.

“Boating safety is a critical priority for the Massachusetts Environmental Police, and with increased activity on waterways across the Commonwealth, this collaboration with local police agencies with help us enforce these important regulations,” Santos said.

The task force’s goal is to make sure people enjoy lake activities in a safe and responsible manner, according to a press release.

They will enforce boating and watercraft violations and make sure the boats are operated safely and legally while on water. The task force will also enforce the regulations on land and deter criminal activity, particularly on area boat ramps.
