Anna Gavrilovna MereminskayaNorthborough – In the afternoon on June 11, 2021, Anna passed away peacefully after a long battle with a chronic disease at Rose Monahan Hospice Home. Anna was 65 years old. She is survived by her husband Igor Mereminskiy, son Anatoliy Mereminskiy, and daughter Anna Maria Mereminskaya. Anna was predeceased by her mother, Netta Adolfovna Surinova.

Anna Gavrilovna Mereminskaya was born on November 5, 1955 to Netta Adolfovna Surinova and Gavril Surinov in Omsk, Russia. Anna was raised in Russia, where she spent many summers by the shore and could often be found gardening, baking, ice-skating, or working on a home project. Anna attended university and medical school in Russia, where she graduated at the age of 21 years old as a general surgeon. Along the way, Anna met Igor Mereminskiy, whom she happily married in Omsk in 1979. In 1980, Anna gave birth to her son Anatoliy. Although Anna worked extremely busy hours as a surgeon, she always made time for her family and her newborn son, always looking for a way to better their life.

When the opportunity arose in March of 1994, Anna, along with her family immigrated to the United States to reside in Virginia. Within one year, Anna gave birth to her daughter, Anna Maria. Anna always loved a challenge, so while raising an infant she was able to learn the English language and pass her medical board exams in order to be able to practice medicine in America. Although she loved her surgical career, Anna decided to pursue anesthesiology instead. Her anesthesiology residency took her to live in New England, where Anna and her family settled down in Northborough, MA. Anna worked as an anesthesiologist at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester, MA until she could no longer due to her illness.

Anna loved traveling to the Caribbean, cross-country skiing, interior design, cooking, baking, and tending to her rose garden.

Although Anna’s life had many hardships, she was unwavering and overcame each one stronger than before. Anna always said “smile, it will make you feel better.” It comes as no surprise that Anna had a smile so contagious it would light up the room. In fact upon meeting her, it was often one of the first things people would notice and comment on.

Anna was extremely hardworking as evidenced by her dedication to serving those in her community as well as her family. She poured every bit of energy she had and countless hours into making her house a home, and loving those around her as much as humanly possible.

Anna left a footprint in the lives of those who were lucky enough to know her. She touched everyone’s heart in a way that cannot be placed into words. Anna will forever be missed, and she will live on in the hearts and memories of those who knew her.

Visitation will be held Thursday June 17, from 8:45-9:45 a.m., at Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main St., Northborough.
