Fort Meadow boaters asked to help fight spread of invasive weedsMARLBOROUGH/HUDSON – Officials in Marlborough and Hudson are issuing their annual plea to local boaters to help slow the advance of invasive plant species in the area.

The call to action remains in place after portions of the Fort Meadow Reservoir were recently treated to “control the growth of nuisance vegetation.”

Facing the threat of Eurasian water milfoil and variable watermilfoil in particular, boat owners are asked to check their vessels for any hitchhiking weeds when removing such boats from the water.

“This will make sure that we are not reintroducing the weeds from other lakes into Fort Meadow Reservoir and vice versa,” read a recent press release from Marlborough’s Fort Meadow Commission.
