Grayce H. MullenNorth Grafton – Grayce H. (Bulger) Mullen, 80, of North Grafton, and formerly of Westborough, passed away peacefully in her sleep on the morning of June 21, 2021 at Beaumont of Northbridge, where she had been residing for the past three months.

Born in Framingham, she grew up in her beloved Westborough. She was the daughter of the late Francis P. Bulger and Grayce H. (Hayden) O’Neill, and wife of the late Eugene “Gene” P. Mullen. She was also predeceased by three sisters, Beverly Bulger, Elaine Bulger, and Mary Jane Foley, and her brother, Jon Bulger.

Grayce had several careers during her lifetime. Her two favorites were being a mom and caring for animals – something she was truly born to do. She walked dogs and pet-sat for many years. She could out-walk anyone, of any age, including the dogs!

She was very athletic for most of her life. She loved skiing, swimming, softball, bowling, and most especially horseback riding. Grayce and her two beloved horses, Whiskey and Tom, participated in many horse shows, winning a tack room full of ribbons and trophies. She also loved Fall in New England, Fettuccini Alfredo at the PO Pub, the Jumble, and her white zinfandel. Grayce and Gene (G&G) created a lovely home together at the top of Perry Hill. They filled the inside with many antiques and collectibles, and embellished the outside with many beautiful plantings.

Grayce suffered with Alzheimer’s Disease for several years and was also recently diagnosed with colon cancer. As with all the other challenges in her life, she stood up to both with her Irish feistiness. Her family is incredibly grateful for the care she received from the staff at Beaumont Northbridge, and from Salmon Hospice. Words cannot express the gratitude that the family has for her three lead caregivers Nancy, Linda, and Becky. They and the team they assembled allowed Grayce to stay happy, healthy, and safe in her home for as long as possible.

Grayce is survived by her three kids, Kevin Arnold (Jeannie) of New Hampshire, Lori Hollander (Jed) of Washington, and Todd Arnold of Florida; grandchildren Anna, Jesse, and Michael, sister, Connie Rebakas Fisher of Millbury; and several nieces and nephews.

No services are being held at this time. A graveside service and celebration of life will be scheduled for some time in the future. Arrangements are under the care of Roney Funeral Home.

In memory of Grayce, please make a donation of time or money to a local animal shelter or rescue organization.
