Hudson – Thomas “Tom” E. Bedford, 81, of Hudson, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2021 at UMass Medical Center in Worcester after a period of declining health. He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Joan D. (Goodwin) Bedford.
Tom was born in Waltham on Aug. 8, 1939, one of four children of the late Thomas and Mary (Hogan) Bedford. He was raised in Waltham where he graduated from Technical Trade School. Shortly after graduating he married the love of his life, Joan D. Goodwin, and together they settled in Hudson, where they have resided for the past 60 years.
Tom worked in several construction careers and most notably as a Maintenance Supervisor for Data General/Hewlett Packard, where he eventually retired from.
Throughout his life he was an active person and had a passion for riding Harley Davidson Motorcycles. He loved to drive his trucks as well as snowmobiling in the winters. Tom also enjoyed fishing in the cape and playing cards with his friends and family.
In addition to his beloved wife, Joan D. Bedford, he is also survived by his son, Christopher J. Bedford of Virginia; his sister, Dianne L. Aucoin and her partner Victor Cormier of Hudson; and his granddaughter, Audree “Aly” Bedford. He was also predeceased by two siblings, Robert Bedford and Mary Jane Lund.
Relatives and friends are invited to a graveside funeral service on Thursday, July 8, at 1 p.m., at Forest Vale Cemetery on Broad Street in Hudson. Tighe Hamilton Regional Funeral Home is honored to be assisting with his arrangements.
