NORTHBOROUGH — Two Algonquin Regional High School students were recently awarded National Merit Scholarships.

The ARHS graduates, David Gillingham and Pranitha Polavarapu, received college-sponsored awards, according to a press release from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.

The winners are selected by sponsor college officials from among a pool of finalists who will be attending the school.

Gillingham will be attending Tufts University to study chemistry. Polavarapu will be studying medicine at the University of Rochester.

Gillingham and Polavarapu are two of over 7,500 2021 National Merit Scholars who received nearly $30 million in scholarships this year.

College-sponsored scholarships range between $500 and $2,000 every year for up to four years.
