James A. Mikutaitis, 90, of ShrewsburyShrewsbury – James A. “Jim” Mikutaitis, 90, a longtime Shrewsbury resident, passed away unexpectedly on July 20, 2021.

Jim was born on May 30, 1931 in Worcester. He attended and graduated from St. Peter’s High School and The United States Army Officer Candidate School, Fort Benning, Ga., graduating as Second Lieutenant. He served in Korea during The Battle of Pork Chop Hill with the 31st Infantry Regiment.

After returning from Korea, Jim began his sales career working as a Military Broker for several companies serving Military Bases in New England. After retiring, Jim worked a short time for the U.S. Postal Service, then dedicated much of his time to the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office, where he was honored for his faithful service. He was also a Board member of the Vincent F. Picard American Legion Post 234, Northborough, and a parishioner of St. Mary of the Hills, Boylston.

Jim was the son of the late Anthony H. and Marguerite (Downey) Mikutaitis. Besides his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his first wife, Bernadine (Thrain) Mikutaitis, in 1977 and Anna T. (Moosey) Mikutaitis in 2015 and brother John Mikutaitis and sister Joyce Flynn.

He is survived by his beloved children, James M. Mikutaitis and his wife Judy and MaryEllen Mikutaitis, both of Worcester. He was the grandfather of Michael and Hailey Mikutaitis.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation period on Saturday, July 24, from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m., at the Chiampa Funeral Home – 5 Church Road, On the Common, Shrewsbury Center. His funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. at St. Mary of the Hills Church, 630 Cross St., Boylston. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Mountain Cemetery of Shrewsbury.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jim’s honor may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
