GRAFTON — The Small Stones Festival of the Arts will officially open its call for artwork on Sunday, Aug. 15.

There’s a maximum of three entries per artist. The festival is welcoming photography and all forms of two-dimensional artwork.

Any artwork can be submitted online at https://smallstones2021.artcall.org/

Small Stones will accept submissions until midnight of the day that a 500th entry is received. A panel of six jurors will select 144 pieces of art to appear in both the exhibit itself as well as the printed exhibit catalog.

There will be three cash prize winners in both the fine art and photography categories, with first place taking home $500, second place getting $250 and $100 going to the third place winner. Additionally, jurors will also give out Juror’s Choice awards and Popular Choice awards.

The 2021 festival will return to the Great Hall in the Grafton Town House on Friday, Oct. 15. The free exhibit will run through Sunday, Oct. 24.

Additionally, this year, there will be a Literary Track in the Grafton Public Library organized by the Shakespeare Club of Grafton. This will include live performances, presentations from authors and a discussion from Assumption University Political Science Professor Daniel Mahoney about the totalitarian effect of the corruption and manipulation of language using George Orwell’s novels.
