Octavio Torres Jr., 87, of HudsonHudson – Octavio “Chico” Lazarte Torres Jr., 87, of Hudson, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Aug. 9, 2021. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 51 years, Conceicao E. “Connie” (Edral) Torres.

Chico was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on Feb. 13, 1934, a son of the late Octavio O. and Margarita (Lazarte) Torres. He was raised in Texas and after finishing school he enlisted in the United States Army, bravely fighting in combat for his Nation in the Vietnam War and earning several medals and commendations, including the Vietnam Service Medal with two bronze stars, National Defense Medal with Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm and Republic of Vietnam Civil Actions Medal Unit Citation.

After his honorable discharge on March 10, 1966, Chico Settled in Hudson and married the love of his life Conceicao E. “Connie” (Edral) Torres.

He worked for over 40 years for the town of Hudson as the Water Forman before eventually retiring.

Chico is survived by his siblings, Belia I. Rodriguez, Petra T. Wilburn, Tina T. Jimenez and Rey Torres; his companion, Adelaide “Squeezle” Saragian; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and beloved wife, Conceicao E. “Connie” (Edral) Torres, he was also predeceased by his siblings, Rosa T. Fernandez, Delia T. Alvarez, Victor Torres, and Robert Torres.

A graveside funeral service with military honors will be held on Monday, Aug. 23, at 12 p.m., at Forest Vale Cemetery on Broad Street in Hudson.
