Upton/Northborough – Richard Parker Hight Jr., a resident of Upton, formerly of Northborough, passed away on Aug. 23, 2021, after a period of declining health. He was 62 years old.
Richard was born in Worcester on Feb. 28, 1959, a son to Dr. Richard P. and Janice R. (Russell) Hight Sr. He was a graduate of Algonquin Regional High School prior to attending East Coast Aero Tech where he studied aircraft mechanics.
Richard had a passion for anything mechanical. His mechanical interests while varied, always returned to making old engines run. He loved Harley Davidsons, Power Wagons, antique farm tractors and the people who owned them. Richard was always willing to lend a hand when needed, especially when something wouldn’t start. A motto he held true to was, “If it rolls, floats or flies, I will fix it!”
Richard was a very curious and imaginative person. An avid reader, he enjoyed history and mystery themes. He was a loyal friend, son, brother and uncle.
Richard is survived by his mother, Janice R. Hight of Northborough; a sister, Judith S. Hight of Cazenovia, N.Y.; and a brother, William D. Hight and his wife Abigail of Freeport, Maine. He also leaves his four nephews, Ian Decker, Alexander Decker, Bennett Hight and Noah Hight; an uncle, Henry A. Russell and his wife Kathleen of Braintree; and many lifelong friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard P. Hight Sr. in 2013, and an uncle, Wendell P. Hight of Norwell in 1985.
A graveside service for Richard will be held on Friday, Aug. 27, at 10 a.m., in the Howard Street Cemetery, Northborough. There are no public calling hours planned due to current Covid-19 concerns.
