MARLBOROUGH – The Marlborough Democratic City Committee (MDCC) is conducting its third collection drive for the benefit of the Marlborough Community Cupboard on Saturday, Sept. 18, rain or shine.

“Unfortunately, the need to step up for the less fortunate in our community has not lessened as our economy has somewhat improved,” said MDCC Chairman Dan Caruso. “So we will continue to conduct these quarterly drives for items that our neighbors need.”

This collection will be conducted as a drop-off at the Navin Arena lower parking lot at 451 Bolton St., Marlborough, from noon to 4 p.m. The drop-off will comply with CDC social distancing guidelines, requiring face masks and no direct contact.

Needed items include children’s items, especially diapers and wipes, as well as basic cooking items such as cooking oil and sugar.

The list also includes bakeable goods such as cake, muffin, and pancake mixes, peanut butter and jelly and canned goods such as Spaghetti O’s, ravioli, spaghetti and meatballs, chili, canned soups, canned vegetables, and canned beans of all kinds.

The Community Cupboard is also seeking snack foods such as crackers, cookies, raisins, Jell-O mixes, Jell-O pudding, and popcorn in addition to breakfast items including all cereals, hot or cold, and condiments such as ketchup, mustard, and mayonnaise.

For further information or questions on the collection, contact MDCC members Pam McNair or Teria Ellis by email at [email protected]  or [email protected], or contact Pam McNair by telephone at 508-294-5481.
