Woodstock, Conn. – Ronald P. “Ron” Prachniak, 80, of Woodstock, CT and formerly of Shrewsbury, MA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 18, 2021.
He leaves his loving wife of almost 58 years, Patricia M. (Manion) Prachniak; their daughters, Jacqueline A. Schold and her husband Gary, of Millbury, Jodi A. Olivier and her companion Laurent, of Somers, CT, and Jennifer A. Prachniak, of Dudley; two grandchildren, Tianna and Tyler Schold, of Millbury; and his special friends and extended family.
Ron was born in Worcester, to the late Peter F. and Rose A. (Desautels) Prachniak; he was raised and educated in Auburn, graduating from Auburn High School in 1959. He then went on to receive his Associate’s degree in Engineering from Ben Franklin Institute in Boston, in 1961.
Ron began his career at the Honeywell Corp., where he remained employed for ten years before his career at Mass General. He dedicated 17 years of hard work, retiring in 1995.
In his free time, Ron enjoyed reading, especially books about American history, and learning how to use the computer. He loved spending time with his beloved canine friends, Buddy and O’Malley. When he was young, Ron enjoyed water sports and hunting with his cousin, Bruce.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the Prachniak family between 9:30 and 10:30 AM on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at the BRITTON-SHREWSBURY FUNERAL HOME, 648 Main Street, Shrewsbury. His funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 AM next door at St. Mary’s Church, 640 Main Street, Shrewsbury.
