REGION – Marlborough and Hudson schools played their first full week of fall sports last week. Immediately, the Assabet’s Field Hockey squad has emerged as one of several teams off to a good start in their season.
First-year head coach Caitlyn Lucht recently told the Community Advocate that her “main goal was to get to know the girls and have them bond.”
“The way we act off the field transfers to how we play on the field,” she said.
Before the season started, Lucht focused on team bonding as well as “getting back to basics.” She focused on “really looking at our fundamentals.”
Lucht is now excited to have the season underway after Assabet did not hold a fall season last year.
“Seeing these girls out here playing again has them fired up and wanting to work hard to improve each week,” she said.
Lucht is taking over for former coach Sandra Stuart.

“[Stuart] was not only a great coach, but also a great mentor,” Lucht said.
Lucht is “hoping to fill her shoes and continue to watch Assabet field hockey improve week by week.”
The Aztecs were 2-0-2 through the first two weeks under Lucht.
