Maureen PeraltaShrewsbury – Maureen (Leary) Peralta, 90, of Shrewsbury’s Southgate Community, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at UMASS Memorial Hospital – University Campus, with her loving family by her side.

She leaves her beloved husband of 67 years, Luis A. Peralta; their children, L. Steven Peralta and his wife Linda, of Plymouth, MA and Naples, FL, James M. Peralta and his wife Ellen Brandt-Peralta, of Bernardsville, NJ, Robert A. Peralta and his wife Jennifer, of Fairview, TX, Julie A. Peralta, of Marlborough, and Lisa M. Fields and her husband John, of Southborough; ten grandchildren, Daniel, Andrew, Forrest, Claire, Grace, Stephen, Jack, Robert, Alison Rose, and Alexander; four great-grandchildren, Daniel, Michael, James, and Esme Rose; and longtime friend, Marion. Maureen is also predeceased by her dear sister-in-law Ana Maria P. de Merida.

Born in Springfield, only daughter of the late Michael S. Leary and Rose (McGuire) Leary, Maureen was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School in Lynn, Class of 1949. She then attended Mass General School of Nursing, graduating in 1952. Maureen received her Bachelor’s of Science from Boston College in 1956. She had an extensive and successful career as a Registered Nurse, retiring in 1995.

Maureen loved to travel, and even visited China, Italy, France, Germany, Greece and Guatemala to see Luis’ family. She was an avid reader and loved music, classical, opera and popular of all kinds.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Maureen’s memorial Mass, which will be celebrated at 10 AM on Saturday, September 25, 2021 in the Chapel at Southgate, 30 Julio Drive, Shrewsbury, MA. Following the Mass, everyone is invited to greet Maureen’s Family members at the Lounge in the 3rd Floor of Southgate.
