UPDATE: The driver injured in today’s crash on the Mass Pike has been “transported by UMass Memorial LifeFlight to a local trauma center,” according to a new Facebook post by the Westborough Fire Department.
WESTBOROUGH – Westborough and Grafton firefighters worked to free a driver trapped following a tractor trailer crash on the westbound side of the Mass Pike on Wednesday.
The crash took place near mile marker 100.6, according to a Facebook post by the department. A photo included with that post showed an overturned tractor trailer resting on its side.
The Westborough Fire Department, working alongside the Grafton Fire Department, asked drivers to seek an alternate route.
“Life Flight en route,” the fire department wrote.
The Fire Department confirmed in a second Facebook post just before 2:30p.m. that the driver injured in this crash had been “transported by UMass Memorial LifeFlight to a local trauma center.”
This comes the day after the Westborough Fire Department responded to a separate crash on Interstate-495 at the Massachusetts Pike.
A photo posted after that incident showed one vehicle resting upside down.
Westborough Rescue 1 and Medic 4 responded to that crash alongside the Hopkinton Fire Department.
