MARLBOROUGH – Larissa Thurston, the new President and Chief Executive Officer for St. Mary’s Credit Union, has begun serving in her new position.

The credit union announced her appointment in April. Thurston was appointed to succeed James C. Garvey.

“Leading an organization that has been serving our family, friends and neighbors for more than 100 years is a true honor,” said Thurston in a press release. “I’m excited to continue the traditions and legacy of those leaders who came before me and to grow the credit union with high-tech access and convenience for our members while also supporting our communities as responsible corporate citizens.”

A Bolton resident, Thurston will be the first woman to lead the credit union in its history.

Locally, Thurston is on the board of directors for Boys & Girls Club of MetroWest and United Way of Tri-County. She’s also a Read to a Child student mentor at Raymond C. Richer Elementary.

Thurston joined St. Mary’s as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in 2014 and recently also served as its Chief Operating Officer in addition to her role as CFO.
