REGION – The Boston Marathon returned this week for the first time since the spring of 2019.
Several dozen area residents were registered to make the short trip to Hopkinton on Monday, lining up for a personal challenge and, in many cases, a fundraising cause.
The weather stayed mostly clear as runners navigated their way to the race finish line on Boylston St. in Boston.
As crowds still lined the course, the ever sprawling mass of marathon runners was smaller than usual this year due to limitations placed by the Boston Athletic Association, which organizes the marathon.
