SHREWSBURY – As residents across Shrewsbury participated in Fall Clean-Up Day on Oct. 23, Shrewsbury Youth Lacrosse (SYL) headed to their home field at Lake Street Park to clean it up.

“For Shrewsbury Youth Lacrosse, we’re really trying to not only develop the kids as lacrosse players but also as better people and to help out with the community,” said board member Brad Wingard.

The idea arose after coaches began brainstorming ways for Shrewsbury Youth Lacrosse to be more visible in the community. So, they called Town Hall, and Superintendent of Public Facilities and Parks Angela Snell gave them a couple of ideas.

“This one fit perfectly for us,” said Wingard.

UPDATE: This article has been updated to note that the clean up day took place at Lake Street Park, not SAC Park. The two facilities are adjacent. Lake Street Park is municipally owned and operated, while SAC Park is not.
