MARLBOROUGH – Kits for Kids collaborated with Macaroni Kids of Marlborough to hold a free Halloween themed dance for children and families in the area on Oct. 22 at the Best Western hotel in Marlborough.

Raffles at the event helped raise money for Kits for Kids.

Jay and Heather Johnston run Kits for Kids, which makes emergency comfort kits for children entering the foster care system, receiving medical treatment, or other stressful situations.

“During the pandemic we’ve been giving out kits and stuffed animals to any child who wants it,” Jay told the Community Advocate.

Kits for Kids held multiple socially distanced drive-through events over the past year. This was their first in-person event after that extended disruption.

“I wasn’t sure if an event like this we were ready for yet, but people seem to be having a lot of fun,” Jay said.
