WESTBOROUGH – Kids dressed as everything from the big bad wolf to Wonder Woman hit the streets of downtown Westborough to get a jumpstart on trick-or-treating this week.

“Westborough Main Street Trick or Treat” was held on Oct. 28. Westborough Recreation hosted the event.

For several hours, kids and their parents wandered up and down the street, gathering candy in their bags. Downtown business owners sat on their front steps, ready to pass out candy to trick-or-treaters.

“We’ve had a lot more kids than I expected,” said Westborough Public Library Assistant Library Director Lynne Soukup.

The library was one of several downtown trick-or-treating municipal stops for kids this Halloween, along with Town Hall, the Forbes Municipal Building and the Westborough Fire Station.

Earlier in the day on Oct. 28, firefighters were busy stringing up cobwebs in front of the station to get ready for trick-or-treaters.

Pumpkins lined the path leading into the library as kids wandered in.

“It’s great,” Soukup said. “It’s good energy. It’s about time. We missed them.”
