Charles L. AlvesYarmouth Port – Charles L. Alves, 84, of Yarmouth Port, formerly of Hudson, MA, and Stow, MA, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, November 11, 2021, at the home of his daughter. He was predeceased by his first wife Joan (Paille) Alves in 1995 and leaves his loving wife of 24 years Karen  (Allen) Alves, formerly of Waltham.

Charlie was born in Marlborough, son of the late Charles and Mary L. (Travers) Alves. He attended local schools and was a 1955 graduate of Hudson H.S. In 1960 he went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Business from Suffolk University. Charlie was self-employed locally for many years, which included owning the Stow Rest Home and also the operations manager for the Hudson Lodge of Elks, of which he was a life member. He resided in Hudson and  Stow for many years until taking up permanent residence in 2019 at the home he shared with Karen in Yarmouth Port.

Besides his wife Karen, he is survived by his son, Brian Alves of Florida; his two daughters, Diane Alves of Worcester, Marcia Beary of Clinton and his 7 loving adoring grandchildren, each very special to Charlie, Courtney, Connor, and Meghan Alves, Alyssa, Lindsey, and Lauren Beary and Katelyn Alves. He also leaves nieces, nephews, and many close friends. He was predeceased by his two sisters, Irene Jacobs and Phyllis Alves.

Charlie had many interests and hobbies throughout his life, but his children and later his grandchildren were always the focus of his affection, cheering them on during their activities and sporting events. He loved traveling with his wife Karen, vacationing in Europe, Portugal, and their yearly trip to Aruba. In his free time, Charlie could be found playing golf with his buddies, a game he enjoyed throughout his life. The memories, stories, and life’s moments he leaves behind will be cherished forever by those who loved and knew him.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 18, 2021, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Tighe-Hamilton Regional Funeral Home, 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA, 01749. A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, November 19, 2021, at 9:00 AM in St. Michael’s Church, 21 Manning Street, Hudson, MA. Burial services will be held privately in Forestvale Cemetery, Hudson, at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Charlie may be made to Dementia Society of America or VNA Hospice and Palliative Care (please specify gift to support hospice)
