MARLBOROUGH – The Assabet Valley Vocational Technical High School varsity cheerleading team is racking up successes in its tournament schedule this fall.
The team won a pair of titles at their league competition earlier this month before finishing in second place at regionals this past weekend.
With the latter finish, the Aztecs punched their ticket to the state championship to be held this coming weekend.
Assabet first earned honors as Colonial Athletic League Champions. That performance also earned the team the title of Large All Girl Vocational Champions.
The Aztecs then moved on to their regional competition, which took place on Nov. 14.
“This is a very big deal for us,” coach Shelby Seymour wrote in a message to the Community Advocate prior to the regionals trip.
