HIGH SCHOOL SCOREBOARD: Teams advance in MIAA playoffs

REGION – The MIAA State tournament continued this past week as regional schools competed in the second round and quarterfinals of their State Championship brackets. 

Schools still have Thanksgiving football games on the schedule that are separate from ongoing playoff competition. But the fall sports season has almost wrapped up.

 

AMSA

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL – NOV. 10

AMSA – 3, Weston – 1

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL – NOV. 12

AMSA – 3, Hamilton-Wenham – 1

AMSA won its way into the final four of the MIAA Division IV state championship tournament with a win over Hamilton-Wenham. They were scheduled to face Ipswich, as of Nov. 14, in a semifinals game on Nov. 17. That game was scheduled to take place after this edition of the Community Advocate went to press. 

 

ASSABET

FOOTBALL – NOV. 12

Assabet – 28, Bay Path – 22

Assabet beat Bay Path to advance to the final four of the State Vocational Large School tournament. The Aztecs will now face Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational Technical High School, which beat Whittier Tech 35-8 on Nov. 11. That game was scheduled for Nov. 19, but did not have a scheduled kickoff time as of Nov. 14. 

 

HUDSON

FOOTBALL – NOV. 12

Hudson – 13, Bishop Fenwick – 42

 

MARLBOROUGH

FOOTBALL – NOV. 12

Marlborough – 26, Leominster – 7

Marlborough got back in the win column against Leominster a week after losing to Grafton in the first round of the MIAA playoffs. This marked the last home game of the year for the Panthers football team ahead of its Thanksgiving Day game in Hudson later this month.
