Hudson – Maria F. Silva, 88, of Hudson, MA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 17, 2021. Maria was the beloved wife of the late Albano Silva who died in 2000.
Maria was born and raised in Matosinhos, Portugal. She emigrated to the U.S. in the 70’s settling in Hudson, MA. She resided in Hudson for many years raising her family and was very active in the Portuguese Community. She was a devoted member of Saint Michael’s Parish in Hudson. Maria was employed for a short time with Thomas Taylor Company in Hudson and later spent many years working for Design Pak of Marlborough, MA until her retirement.
She is survived by her children, Joaquim Silva and wife Maria of N. Dartmouth, MA, Marie Renaud and husband Rodney of Marlborough, MA; her 5 grandchildren, Nicholas Silva, Joshua Silva, Serena Silva, Melissa Renaud-Stuka and Mark Renaud along with her 13 great grandchildren, Alyssa, Alexandra, Maxwell and Maddison Silva, Austin, Leah and Chloe Silva, Alexa, Michael and Stanley Stuka, Anthony Morris, Alicia and Emmalee Renaud. Maria was predeceased by her son Antonio Silva, her grandson Michael Silva along with her 6 siblings.
Maria was proud of her heritage and the wonderful Portuguese community in Hudson. She always looked forward to her yearly seasonal trips back to Portugal to spend time with family and friends. In her spare time she enjoyed sewing and cooking at her home. She cherished spending time with family, especially later with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be missed by all who loved and knew her.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 26, 2021, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Tighe-Hamilton Regional Funeral Home, 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA, 01749. A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, November 27, 2021, at 9:00 AM in St. Michael’s Church, 21 Manning Street, Hudson, MA. Burial will follow in Sant Michael’s Cemetery, Hudson.
