SOUTHBOROUGH – After being held virtually last year, the 15th annual Gobble Wobble 5K race and two-mile walk returned to Southborough roads on Thanksgiving morning, Nov. 25.

Starting and finishing at Trottier Middle School, this holiday tradition benefits the Friends of Southborough Recreation (FOSR). Most of the 913 registered supporters worked up their Thanksgiving Day appetites by running or walking the 5K or two-mile route.

FOSR President Jolene Chapski presented medals to the 5K winners. Southborough residents achieved the two top honors. Grant Gattuso finished first overall in 16:13. Kathryn McCarthy was the first-place female finishing in 19:07.

Medals were also presented to the first-place runners in six age categories.

Proceeds go toward FOSR’s ongoing endeavors including scholarships for children’s summer camps. FOSR has also contributed funds for projects such as replacing playground equipment at Fayville Park, resurfacing turf at 9/11 Memorial Field and installing lights at Choate Field. The nonprofit also helps fund the town’s Summer Nights and Summer Concert Series.
