ShrewsburySHREWSBURY – Ever wonder about the stories behind famous Christmas carols?

The Shrewsbury Historical Society will present “The History of Christmas Carols” virtually on Wednesday, Dec. 15 at 7 p.m. on Shrewsbury Media Connection and Channels 28 and 328.

Some carols were actually calls to rebellion, while others were dangerous to sing, the society said in the press release.

The program will be presented by Sari Bitticks, who is the president of the Auburn Historical Society and the chair of the Auburn Historical Commission.

The program will also feature carols performed on the piano by Mark Mummert, who cantors at Trinity Lutheran Church in Worcester and who is the associate conductor of the Worcester Chorus in addition to serving on the faculty of the Hanover Theater and Conservatory.
