Northborough Light Up the Town contest begins tomorrowNORTHBOROUGH – Residents will soon decide which houses in town have the best holiday decorations.

They’ll do so through Northborough’s Light Up the Town contest, which is returning this year for a second year.

Those interested in competing must sign up by the end of the day today to have their homes placed on a list of homes in contention to win the contest.

The Community Affairs Committee, which is running the contest, will then publicize a list of addresses for community members to view decorations and vote on them. That list will be shared on the committee’s website and on its Facebook page.

Competing houses must remain lit until 9 p.m. each night between Friday, Dec. 10 and Sunday, Dec. 19.

Community members can select their favorite three displays online at the Community Affairs Committee’s website.

Residents in of the three winning homes will receive prize baskets from local businesses.

Light Up the Town ran for the first time last year amid lingering COVID-19 restrictions and precautions.

“We felt we should come up with a fun, socially distant event for the holiday season,” Committee chair Lisa Hodge said in a press release at the time.

Last year’s winning display, at 7 Greenwood Road, drew over a hundred votes. A display at 31 Winter Street came in second place while displays at 2 Washburn Road and 12 Mulligan Way tied for third place.
