Maureen D. DrydenShrewsbury/Falmouth – Maureen D. “Mo” (Carney) Dryden, 80, of Shrewsbury and Falmouth, passed suddenly on Tuesday, December 7, 2021, at her home. She lost her beloved husband of 62 years, Willis E. Dryden, Jr., on December 12, 2020.

Mo leaves her loving children: Willis E. Dryden, III, of Barre, Beth A. Dryden, of Shrewsbury, Patricia L. Shaker and her husband Ashraf, of Shrewsbury, Paul J. Dryden, of Douglas, and Kelly M. Jordan and her husband Art, of Cobleskill, NY; her grandchildren: Christopher Dryden, of Burlington, VT, Chelsea Jordan, of Charlotte, NC, Felicia Jordan-McRee and her husband Seth, of New Bern, NC, Malik Shaker, of Worcester, and Saharra Shaker, of Brighton; two nieces: Tara Corcoran and Amy Catalogna; also leaving her fur babies, Tucker and Daisy Mae. Along with her husband, she was predeceased by her grandson, Joshua Dryden; her siblings, Michael Carney and Nancy Corcoran; and their parents, Clifton and Katherine (Flynn) Carney.

Born, raised, and educated in Worcester, Mo became a loving homemaker when her children were young. She began working for Saint Mary’s Parish in Shrewsbury, where she spent many years, and worked in many different capacities; as well as being a longtime, devoted parishioner. Later in her career, Mo worked at the Head Start Program for the Worcester School System, and had the joy of being coworkers with her dear friend, Pat.

Mo always kept active in her social life, sharing her Wednesdays with her daughters and friends, Mario and Donna, for Bible Study; and spending Thursday afternoons playing cards with her friends, Barbara, Jean, and Pat. She enjoyed being a part of many activities at Westbrook Crossing Clubhouse, within the community where she resided.

Mo was a devoted wife and mother, loving nothing more than spending time with her family, laughing over lunch or dinner, and cherishing her grandchildren. She looked forward to the birth of her first great-grandchild in the coming months of 2022.

Mo also loved travel, as she and Willis loved to see the world, including Hawaii, Bermuda, Ireland, Alaska, and London. Mo and Bill were snowbirds, spending many winters in Indian Shores, FL, and cherished their second home in Falmouth, MA. She could often be found playing Bocce with the Daughters of Isabella group, crafting, and quilting. She was also a voracious reader, and always had a book in hand.

She will be deeply missed, but never forgotten, by her beloved family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, Mo’s family requests that donations be made to Dr. Enzinger’s Cancer Research Fund, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284-9168 (or via www.dana-farber.org/gift).

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the Dryden family from 4 – 7 PM on Monday, December 13, 2021 at the BRITTON-SHREWSBURY FUNERAL HOME, 648 Main Street, Shrewsbury, MA. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 AM on Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at Saint Mary’s Church, 640 Main Street, Shrewsbury, and burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
