Mary L. Brassard LiretteMarlborough – Mary L. (O’Brien) Brassard Lirette, of Marlborough, passed away peacefully, on Thursday, December 16, 2021, at Marlborough Hospital, four days shy of her 82nd birthday. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Edgar J. Lirette, who passed on August 8, 2018.

Mary was born in Framingham, MA on December 20, 1939, one of 8 children of the late Richard A. and Marian S. (Stebbins) O’Brien. She was raised in Northborough, where she attended school. Mary remained locally, living in Worcester, Hudson and Marlborough throughout her life, while raising her 3 children. She worked for many years in local factories manufacturing plastics, before eventually retiring.

Mary had many hobbies and interests during the years including dancing, bowling and playing cards. She loved to take annual trips to Martha’s Vineyard with her siblings in the summers and also travel on cruises with her husband Edgar. Mary was also an active member of the Marlborough Amvets and the Loyal Order of the Moose. Above all else she loved to spend as much time as she could with her beloved family and friends.

Mary is survived by two children, Maurice “Joe” Brassard and Norma J. Kelley; her son-in-law, Jeff Kelley; 3 siblings, Helen Zicolella and her spouse Paul, Richard O’Brien and his spouse Cress and Robin O’Brien – LeBlanc and her spouse Bernie; 4 grandchildren, Caroline Brassard, Alexandria “Lexi” Kelley, Liam Kelley and Christine Tierney and her husband Richard; 2 great-grandchildren, Richard and Thomas Tierney and many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her son, Troy A. Brassard and his spouse Johnny Szmaj; her daughter-in-law Cherylynn Brassard and 4 siblings, Ann Aanon, Margaret Auger, Ruthie Capobianco and Dorothy Braley and her ex-husband, Donald J. Brassard.

Relatives and friends are invited to a period of visitation from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m on Thursday, December 30, 2021 at Tighe Hamilton Regional Funeral Home, 50 Central Street, Hudson, ending with a funeral service at 12:30pm in the funeral home. A Celebration of life will be held at the conclusion of services at the Amvets Post 1980, 17 Fitchburg Street, Marlborough.
