MARLBOROUGH – Photography on Sunday captured a frozen scene at the Marlborough Public Library as the region continues to thaw out from messy weather this weekend.

Heavy machinery parked on the library property was silent, though work has continued this year on what is a major renovation project.

The finished project will improve accessibility while adding new facilities to the library space.

This project will cost upwards of $20 million and broke ground back in September. Demolition work on part of the building began late last month, now leaving the historic Carnegie facade of the library as the only remaining portion of the old structure.

The new design will preserve the Carnegie facade while adding space behind it on the existing library lot.
