SHREWSBURY – Central One Federal Credit Union lent a hand this holiday season by making donations to a number of area groups.
The list of recipients includes Auburn Youth and Family Services, Shrewsbury Youth and Family Services, Westborough Youth and Family Services, and Northborough Helping Hands.
Helping Hands coordinates programs to help families in need get food, Christmas gifts, medical equipment and emergency aid, among other things.
Each of the local Youth and Family Services programs provide varying forms of counseling and social services to community members.
Many at such agencies have been particularly vocal amid the COVID-19 pandemic as they discuss an increase in demand for their services.
“The pandemic will likely cause a spike in youth mental health problems, with long-term psychological fallout,” Shrewsbury Youth and Family Services (SYFS) wrote in one Facebook post back in September.
Central One donated gift cards and toys to each of these agencies. The credit union also donated to Toys for Tots this winter.
“Central One Federal Credit Union was happy to help make the holidays a little brighter for local children by making [these] donations,” it noted in a press release.
Central One Federal Credit Union is headquartered in Shrewsbury with branches in Shrewsbury, Auburn, Northborough, Westborough and Worcester.
It has school branches in both Shrewsbury and Westborough High Schools.
