Aldona A. MastroShrewsbury – Aldona A. (Dedynas) Mastro, 94, of Shrewsbury, passed away on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at Memorial Hospital in Worcester.

Aldona is survived by her devoted husband of sixty-three years, Gerald Mastro; a daughter, Nancy A. (Mastro) Norris of London, UK; a son, John G. Mastro of Charlton; three grandchildren, Shanah A. (Mastro) Elliot of Worcester, James Mastro of Auburn, and Elena N. Norris of North Grafton; five great grandchildren, Clark E. Elliot, Grant G. Elliot, Isla N. Sanabria, Benjamin E. Mastro, and Jack A. Elliot; a brother, Richard A. Sharameta and his wife Rita of Worcester; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a grandson, Edward P. Norris in 2013.

Aldona was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Peter A. Dedynas and Anna (Wackell) Dedynas Sharameta. Her father’s death was untimely, and her mother later re-married and she was raised by her loving step-father, Anthony P. Sharameta.

Aldona worked for several years as a clerk for Melville Shoe before she and Gerald had children; she then dedicated her life to caring for and raising two devoted children. She later re-entered the work force and became a nurse’s aide at UMass Hospital, where she worked for over twenty-two years, before retiring in 2001.

She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel-Our Lady of Loreto Parish. She enjoyed bowling and had been active in a morning league at the former colonial bowling alley.  She loved her family and was always in attendance at her grandchildren’s extracurricular events. She looked forward to holidays, birthdays and family trips to Cape Cod. She also enjoyed reading, playing cards with family and friends and experiencing “The Wonder of It All”.

The family would like to thank the kind, caring staff at Oakdale Nursing Home, for their dedication to Aldona. Their devotion to her care is greatly appreciated.
