WESTBOROUGH – Community members passing the RK Speedway Plaza on Route 9 in Westborough have seen crews at work renovating part of the facility in recent months.

Last week, drone photography offered an aerial perspective of the project, showing the building’s open facade as well as construction equipment parked on site.

Work has continued in recent days.

The portion of the building currently undergoing these renovations was once occupied by a Stop and Shop store.

The grocery chain closed that location last year, however, directing shoppers to their other store in town off Lyman Street.

The Community Advocate reported earlier this month that Ashley Homestore would be moving into a 20,000 square-foot portion of the open space.

The remaining 40,000 square-feet, meanwhile, will be occupied by a still unnamed “national grocer” according to the plaza’s leasing brochure.
